As night falls, I surrender my bodily functions to an autonomous system, all under the watchful guidance of my subconscious mind. Imagine that, for a split second, I entrust my very existence to an intricate mechanism while 'I' retreat into slumber. The heartbeat, breath, digestion, and cognition—all orchestrated effortlessly. The power of this exchange is profound, as I lay my faith in my subconscious realm.
Hypnagogia marks the transition from wakefulness to sleep, often referred to as the fading state of consciousness at the beginning of slumber. Its counterpart is known as hypnopompia – the state between sleep and wakefulness. Nonetheless, the focus of this post revolves around that precise moment of slipping into slumber.

Throughout the day, whether immersed in work or lost in contemplation, an unspoken dialogue unfolds within us. It's a conversation that transcends words, a communion with the subconscious mind. During these moments before sleep, I infuse my sincere unselfish intentions into the realm of my subconscious. Every thought, every aspiration, and every goal becomes a thread intricately woven into the fabric of my subconscious landscape. As I close my eyes, surrendering to the realm of dreams, my subconscious takes on the mantle of an alchemist. It works tirelessly on my aspirations as I slumber, and quite often, in the next day or days, it yields unexpected outcomes—a sudden insight, a timely phone call, a solution to the query posed to the subconscious the prior night. That information, which I pass on to my subconscious at that split-second moment, shapes my reality in the future.
Navigating the Subconscious Tide: Trusting Positivity
The subconscious mind operates beyond the bounds of logic, seemingly unburdened by distinctions between positivity and negativity. This disposition perhaps stems from its inherent reverence for our conscious SELF.
In my case, I have learned to shield myself from negativity, avoiding the embrace of pessimistic influences that could taint the canvas of my subconscious. When faced with a challenge, I navigate the landscape of my thoughts, striding towards the furthest reaches of the negative spectrum that delineates my positive and negative ideations. This quick expedition to the negative side of the spectrum serves the purpose of uncovering the contours of the worst-case scenario and offering a comprehensive understanding. Swiftly, I retreat to the reassuring realm of positivity. Prolonged dwelling on the negative plane entails a degree of risk, for it can allow the negativity I observed to solidify into vivid mental images, potentially manifesting in reality. Having ventured to the far reaches of this mental expanse, I pivot my focus exclusively towards the sunlit expanse of optimism.
Embracing the Unknown: Surrendering to Sleep's Embrace
Each night, as I prepare to retire, a sense of anticipation unfurls within me. I eagerly await the pivotal and fleeting encounter—an authentic split-second tête-à-tête with my subconscious mind. In this delicate instant, I relinquish the reins of authority to my subconscious as I allow myself to enter sleep's embrace. From the moment I fall asleep until I awaken, it is my subconscious that deftly steers the intricate mechanisms of my body, sustaining my life. This silent, trusted partnership ensures my rejuvenation each dawn and permits me to wake up the following morning with gratitude and open two precious gifts - my eyes, which are portals to the world around me.
